- Abu Nidar: Port city of Sardauk, on the Inner Sea
- Aqqad: Garden city on the Sardauk-Gimrael border
- Archen Mountains: Mountain range dividing the Empire from Nimroth, sometimes referred to as the an-Archen
- Arennor: Northern plains province of which Aradhrim is the high chief. Arennorians are distant kin to the Nimrothi clans. Arennorian: Of or pertaining to Arennor; a native thereof
- Arkadie: Desert nation south of the Inner Sea
- Astolar: Ancient kingdom on the western edge of the Empire, traditionally holding a seat at the Imperial Council. Astolan: Of or pertaining to Astolar; a native thereof
- Awen, River: River in central Dremenir, flowing through the Holy City
- Barrowshire: District of Tylos famous for its ponies
- Belaleithne Falls: Waterfall at the north end of the Mere in Astolar
- Belistha: North-central province of the Empire, famed for wool and furs. Belisthan: Of or pertaining to Belistha; a native thereof
- Blackcraig: Merion and Lisla’s house, where Gair spent summers as a boy
- Bregorin: Mysterious, heavily-forested nation in south-western Empire, traditionally having a seat on the Imperial Council
- Bregorinnen: Of or pertaining to Bregorin; a native thereof
- Brindling Fall: Strategically-significant fortress guarding Whistler’s Pass
- Brindling, the: Coastal mountain range in the far north-west of the Empire
- Broken Land, the: Nimroth, north of the Archen Mountains; Teia’s homeland
- Caer Amon: Town in the Elethrainian marches; a Suvaeon Daughterhouse there
- Caer Ducain: City of Milanthor, scene of a bloody siege in the Founding Wars
- Carantuil: Capital city of Astolar
- Carterway Head: Leahn highland pass, where the north road enters the Great Glen
- Caterin’s, Saint: Canal in the White Havens, location of the pearl market
- Chapterhouse: Home of the Guardians of the Veil, on the Western Isles
- Citadel, the: Fortress in Mesarild, capital of the Empire. Now largely demilitarised, it contains the Imperial residence and government buildings
- Citadel, the: Inner city of Dremen, housing the Sacristy, holiest church of the Eadorian faith, and the Houses Martial and Pastoral
- Dar Adan: Capital of Tylos
- Dian, River: River in Leah, flowing through the Long Glen
- Dremen: Holy City and capital of Dremenir
- Dremenir: Province in the north-east of the Empire. Dremenirian: Of or pertaining to Dremenir; a native thereof
- Drumcarrick Head: Rocky promontory on the coast of Leah, outside Leahaven
- Dun Riordain: Town in Syfria, where Berengir was born
- Dun Ygorn: Town in Syfria, where Selenas was born
- Endirion’s Gate: Main gate at the fortress of Brindling Fall
- Fang Rock: Hazard to shipping off the Maling Islands
- Five Sisters, the: String of five small islets off the Western Isles
- Fjordain, the: Coastal mountain range running north and west, parallel to and overlapping the Brindling
- Fleet: Capital of Arennor and the province’s sole fixed settlement
- Giant’s Table, the: Granite plateau in Leah, near where Gair spent his early years
- Gimrael: Desert province of the Empire, south of the Inner Sea, capital El Maqqam. Gimraeli: Of or pertaining to Gimrael; a native thereof
- Glass Hills: Range of hills above El Maqqam in Gimrael
- Great Glen, the: Long valley in Leah, where Gair first shape-shifted
- Greenway, the: Road running south and east from Whistler’s Pass
- Grove, the: Most sacred place in Bregorin, abode of their King
- Hartshead Tor: Tor on a hilltop in Leah, said to resemble a deer’s head
- Haven-port: The dockside area of the White Havens, known for villainy
- Hidden Kingdom, the: Realm of the fey, sometimes referred to as simply the Hidden. Also known as just the Hidden.
- Holy City: Dremen, capital of Dremenir
- Isenborg: City on the Northern Isles, location of Renngald’s castle
- Kaldsmirgen: Nordman name for the sea around the Northern Isles; the White Sea
- King’s Gate: A Suvaeon fort guarding a pass through the Archen Mountains
- Kingswater: The widest and grandest of the White Havens’ canals
- Kingsway, the: Road north through what was Milanthor, leading to King’s Gate
- Laraig Anor, the: Mountain range, descends roughly south south east from the Archen Mountains
- Leah: North-eastern province of the Empire, capital Leahaven. Leahn: Of or pertaining to Leah; a native thereof
- Leahaven: Capital of Leah
- Lion Gate: Main gate of El Maqqam, shaped like a roaring lion’s head
- Maling Islands: Island group in the Inner Sea, famous for their pearl-beds
- Mere, The: Lake in the centre of Astolar
- Mesarild: Capital of Elethrain and seat of the Empire
- Milanthor: Ancient city-state in the north-west, now ruined. Milanthori: Of or pertaining to Milanthor; a native thereof
- Motherhouse: Headquarters of the Suvaeon Order
- Muiragh Mhor: Geologically-active region of Nimroth, known for its ash fields
- Nimroth: The Broken Land; home to Teia’s people. Nimrothi: Of or pertaining to Nimroth; a native thereof
- Oak and Eagle, the: Inn in Mesarild
- Oak King, the: Ruler of Bregorin, occupying the Grove
- Penbirgha: One of the Western Isles
- Pencruik: Principal town of the Western Isles, on the island of Penglas
- Penglas: Largest of the Western Isles, capital Pencruik
- Penmor: One of the Western Isles
- Pensaeca: Second-largest of the Western Isles
- Pensteir: One of the Western Isles
- Poets’ Square: Square in El Maqqam where the Suvaeon Knights were executed during the first desert war
- Queen’s Round, the: Street in Mesarild near the Citadel, a very prestigious address
- Red Dragon, the: An inn in Pencruik on the Western Isles
- Rede-hall: Hall where the Rede is held
- Riannen Cut: Site of one of the decisive battles of the Founding Wars
- River Run: Decisive battle in the Founding Wars
- Roisin’s Stair: Long shallow stair leading down from Brindling Fall to the Greenway
- Saardost Keep: One of the Suvaeon forts that guard the passes through the an-Archen
- Sacristy, the: Holiest church of the Eadorian faith, in the centre of Dremen
- Samarak: Scene of a bloody battle during the desert wars
- Sanctuary Isle: Headquarters of the Sisters of St Tamas; a leper colony there
- Sardauk: Desert kingdom south of the Inner Sea famed for its horses; capital Marsalis
- Scarlet Feather, the: Inn in the glovers’ quarter of the White Havens
- Seven Kingdoms: Seven planes of the Hidden Kingdom; Savin swears by them
- Singing Stones, the: Crystal formation in a cave beneath Arennor, guarded by Maera
- Speaker’s circle: A circle in the floor of the White Couert’s council chamber, where one stands to address the Queen and the Ten.
- St Caterin’s: Canal in the White Havens; location of the pearl-market
- Syfria: Southern province of the Empire famed for steel, capital Yelda
- Templemount: Hill outside the Motherhouse, where dead Preceptors are burned
- Threepenny Yard: Street in Pencruik on the Western Isles, location of one of the town’s better brothels
- Tir Breann: Highest peak in the Laraig Anor
- Tir Malroth: Fish-tailed peak in the Archen Mountains, reputed to be haunted
- Traitor’s Court: Execution place in the Motherhouse
- Tylos: South-eastern province of the Empire famous for brandy and wine, capital Dar Adan
- Westermarch: Western region of Arennor, adjoining what used to be Milanthor
- Western Isles, the: Islands off the Empire’s west coast, famed for glass and porcelain
- Whistler’s Pass: Strategically-significant pass between the an-Archen and the Brindling, guarded by the fortress of Brindling Fall
- White Havens, the: Port city on the south coast of Syfria
- wildwood, the: The deep woods of Bregorin, where time flows differently
- Yelda: Capital of Syfria
- Zhiman, River: Gimraeli river, flowing into the Inner Sea; Zhiman-dar sits at its mouth
- Zhiman-dar: Port city of northern Gimrael, where the River Zhiman meets the Inner Sea
