Thanks, Roh--about ten months left to wait until it hits the shelves. OMG I'm nervous!

As I mentioned in my 'idea shower' comment, I found your blog via Tessa's bloghop.

Just want to say I enjoyed the little bits I read of The Wild Hunt series (I love the Songs of the Earth, both the title and the concept!)

Congrats on getting published - I'm looking forward to reading this series!

I'm all for taking established tropes and twisting them until they squeal--more power to you. I even have one of my characters riffing on the mysterious-birthmark, long-lost-heir theme.

There's an extract from Songs on my website if you want to whet your appetite.

Hello, new blog friend! I found your site on this here blorgy or whatever this is. Your book sounds great! I am always looking for fantasy that I like to read, which is a bit tricky because I'm not really into most of the genre. But I have always been interested in folklore and history, so I'm now working on a fairy tale-based novel and feel I should read some good fantasy books in the process.

I love your description: "guaranteed free from from long-lost heirs, prophecies and tow-headed farmboys who become master swordsmen after ten minutes' practice." Ha!

Now, I must admit, my book does contain long-lost heirs... except that everybody and their fourth cousin happens to be a potential "heir" to the promiscuous King Gunnar the Great. And it does have lots of "prophecies," but they are all self-fulfilling by the superstitious bumpkins of the land. And there is a tow-headed farmboy who THINKS he has become a master swordsman after ten minutes' practice and a "magic" sword (after all, he is the "prophecied" "heir" of the cursed kingdom), but it's only a joke that an old lady plays on him.
